Fluff is Not Enough

I served an LDS mission back east, six months in Vermont, one year in Maine. And if you served a mission, you may understand when I say: I. Miss. It. So. Much. You devote so much time, energy, and feeling to the people and the area. So much that when it comes time to leave you feel like you're leaving a piece of you behind. I've been home for almost a year and a half, and I still feel like a huge part of me is still back there.

Often I look through pictures, my souvenirs, journals etc. People will even send me classic Eastern food like real maple syrup. Once I hung out with some companions and we just ate Fluff, which is similar to your average marshmallow fluff.....but it's not.

All of these things are wonderful reminders, however, often times it doesn't feel like enough. I wish I could just go back and live there!

Fluff is Not Enough
I spent some time back east,
but left my heart behind.
My soul now feels deceased
No solace can I find.

Memories can take me back
Photos remind of the past
Syrup and Fluff I do not lack,
but even those do not last.

The maple syrup's almost gone,
though I still have the fluff.
'Till I go back, my soul still mourns.
'Cause Fluff is not enough.

Until I see the bright green trees,
all I have is stuff
Until I feel the ocean breeze,
this Fluff is not enough.

Somewhere in Maine...I can't remember....
